Antoine Bethea Set to Join Giants

After allowing Landon Collins to sign with the Washington Redskins in free agency, the New York Giants added a veteran presence at safety Tuesday by agreeing to a two-year deal with Antoine Bethea. By losing Collins and signing Bethea, the Giants will have a brand new safety combo next season as they look to bounce back from a campaign.

Last season, Bethea had the second most tackles in his career with 121 and made 100 solo tackles for the first time and logged a career-high five tackles for loss. Bethea’s signing is demonstrative of the Giants staying away from some of the higher priced free agents

Bethe played for Bettcher in 2017 as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. That season, Bethea intercepted five passes, broke up nine more, had one sack and one forced tackle. The Giants were in need of a safety even before they declined to apply the franchise tag to Landon Collins and watched him sign a megadeal with the rival Redskins. The need for two safeties took the Giants to an unusual place, as on Tuesday they agreed to terms with Antoine Bethea, an accomplished 34 year old player.
